RCTC Center for Teaching and Learning 2004-2005

 Annual Report Executive Summary

During the past year, the Rochester Community and Technical College’s (RCTC) Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) worked to offer teaching and learning-centered events and programming based upon a stronger emphasis on intentional strategic planning.  Such intentionality helped the Campus Leader and ALA better plan events that not only directly addressed the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Office of Chancellor’s Strategic Work Plan as well as the new RCTC CAO’s Teaching and Learning Work Plan but also served to better adapt the programming to the specific interests and needs of the RCTC Faculty.  During the year, we enjoyed a wide variety of CTL programming and events including a successful teaching circle pilot, the advancement of our Common Book Program and better assessment of programming (based upon a Fall 2004 Faculty Needs Assessment and more formal assessment tools administered after CTL events).  Our most exciting news includes the CAO’s creation of a new “Faculty Development Advocate” position that will merge the CTL Leader and ALA positions for 2005-2006 and will offer the appointee a voice the CAO’s leadership team and dedicated release time. The following CTL Campus Leader Report expands the RCTC CTL Goal Alignment Process, a Description and Assessment of our Yearly Events and Programming, a Summary of Faculty Development Leadership Activities, a Timeline for Future RCTC CTL events, a Budget Report, the Campus Leader’s Conclusions and Reflections as well as several Appendices.  It is the contention of the RCTC CTL Campus leader that the data presented in this Campus Leader CTL Annual Report support the conclusion that the Rochester Community and Technical College Center for Teaching and Learning has provided strong programming for our campus that is in accord with the College’s Strategic Goals, the CAO’s RCTC Teaching and Learning Work Plan as well as RCTC’s faculty development needs.
